Nova Porcelanato (a company belonging to the Cedasa and Incopisos groups) chose Innova Group technology to modernize and fully automate its ceramic end-of-line. To improve the safety of your ceramic loads, Innova proposed a complete packaging line with state-of-the-art fastening and protection systems.
The new packaging line was inaugurated at the end of 2022 at the Nova Porcelanato factory in Santa Gertrudes (São Paulo), one of the largest ceramic centers in Brazil and South America. The plant has more than 288,000 m² and has a fully modernized and automated industrial park with state-of-the-art equipment and Industry 4.0, capable of producing up to 1,300,000 m² of ceramics per month. With the new installation, Innova's packaging line also contributed to this modernization project with advanced packaging technology to protect your pallets.
The design and installation of Innova Group at Nova Porcelanato was carried out in conjunction with Servitech, which is an exclusive partner at Innova in Brazil and responsible for offering support services and spare parts to all our customers in the country.

Nova Porcelanato automation project
Nova Porcelanato came to us with the need to fully automate its final packaging, in addition to meeting safety standards, such as NR12.
The packaging line installed at Nova Porcelanato was designed with a view to fully protecting Damme and Helena brand coverings. For this reason, the combination of the automatic wrapper with pallet strapping systems was chosen to obtain greater support and, finally, the Stretch Hood for total protection of the load. The combination of these three systems (strapping, wrapping and Stretch Hood) is a common formula in Innova Group's ceramic packaging lines, present in ceramic production centers in Spain, Brazil and Mexico.
The Nova Porcelanato packaging line
Thus, the end of line installed in Nova Porcelanato includes the following systems:
- Automatic ring wrapping system: Firstly, the ceramic pallet is packed with the ring wrapper to compact and protect the load. This type of packaging using a rotating ring offers a type of packaging that surrounds and respects the ceramic product. It also performs the dual function of protecting the pallet from subsequent strapping so that the boxes are not damaged by the tension of the strapping.

- Horizontal strapping system: automatic horizontal strapping machine is used to compact the load of ceramic boxes into one block. It includes a compression system that aligns the load before applying the strap laterally. In the case of the Nova Porcelanato line, strapping is used to provide greater security and stability during cargo handling and transport.
- Vertical strapping system: The load then passes through the vertical strapping that is used to join the load to its base, the pallet. This type of strapping provides greater fixation during transport and prevents the ceramic boxes from moving or sliding.
- Sistema Stretch Hood: Finally, the last station in the line is Stretch Hood packaging, which protects the load using an elastic film that adapts to the shape of the boxes. The Stretch Hood system is the packaging system that offers the best protection, as it uses a highly technical film with a multilayer composition of high density polyethylene (MLLDPE). This Stretch Hood film has high elasticity, anti-puncture and anti-scratch properties, as well as barrier layers against external factors, such as water, dust, UV rays, etc. Thanks to the film and type of cover, the ceramic pallet is fully protected for outdoor storage or transport.

- Conveyor line: the line is integrated through a line of incoming conveyors with a pallet centering system to ensure that packaging is carried out accurately and outgoing conveyors and accumulation of already packed pallets.
Results and future of Nova Porcelanato
The automation project not only met Nova Porcelanato's modernization and safety requirements, but also significantly improved the safety of its ceramic products during transportation and storage. With these technological advances, Nova Porcelanato is solidly positioned to meet the future demands of the ceramics sector and continue to offer high quality products to its customers.
In collaboration with Innova Group and Servitech, Nova Porcelanato has taken a step forward in its vision of remaining at the forefront of the ceramic sector, demonstrating a firm commitment to quality and efficiency in its final packaging process. In turn, the company demonstrated its satisfaction and confidence in us for this and other future line update projects.
For Innova and Servitech, “it is an honor to be able to work with ceramic companies at the level of Nova Porcelanato and to be able to meet their demands and requirements in terms of packaging”.
